From Heartbreak to Hope: A Mother’s Day I’ll Never Forget

Last year on Mother’s Day, my home broke apart. It flooded and everything was ruined. What should have been a day of peace became one of chaos. It was a heartbreaking moment not just as a single mother, but as a woman trying to hold everything together. Financially I didn’t know how I was able to keep my home and built it back to its original state. That day broke something in me.

But through surrender, and prayers and Going back to God, and through HIM… he saved me.

One year later, I found myself in Mexico on my first missions trip with The Crossing Church and YWAM through Homes of Hope. This time, on Mother’s Day, I wasn’t sitting in sorrow. I was standing on solid ground, building a home for a mother who had been through her own share of struggles. It was surreal. We weren’t just giving her walls and a roof; we were giving her hope.

Handing the keys and the Bible to the family, was one of the most emotional moments of my life. It felt like God had rewritten my story. From being broken in my own home to helping build one for someone else, He truly made beauty from ashes.

That trip didn’t just change the life of the family we served, it changed mine. I now believe this is what I was created to do. To serve. To show up for the abandoned. To be a light in dark places. I don’t need riches or recognition. I just want a life of purpose. One that reflects the grace God extended to me.

Prayer Requests:
- Pray for the family we built the home for especially the mother. May she feel secure, seen, and surrounded by God’s love.
- Pray that God provides opportunities and resources so I can continue saying “yes” to missions.
-Pray for other mothers who feel alone, broken, or forgotten that they experience the same restoration God is doing in me.
