Going on a mission trip to El Salvador with my church was one of the most life-changing experiences of my life. I knew we were going to serve — to build homes for families in need — but I didn’t realize just how much God was going to work in my own heart while I was there.
When we arrived in San Salvador, we were met with families who had little more than hope. Their strength, joy, and unwavering faith, even in the face of hardship, left a mark on me that I’ll carry forever. Over the course of our time there, we worked with our hands and feet to build something physical — walls, roofs, doors — but what God built in all of us was something much deeper: a stronger faith, a deeper compassion, and a greater sense of purpose.
Along the way, I met people from my church who started out as just familiar faces but quickly became something so much more. Through shared prayers, hard work, laughter, and even tears, these brothers and sisters became true family to me. There’s a different kind of bond that forms when you serve together — when you carry each other’s burdens, lift each other up, and chase after the same calling.
This trip opened my eyes to what it really means to live out the Gospel — not just by speaking about God’s love, but by being His love in action. I came back a different person: more grateful, more humble, and more passionate about serving wherever God calls.
El Salvador changed me, and I know it was only the beginning of the story God is writing in my life.
All glory to Him.
