You know God was definitely among us and the Holy Spirit led us throughout the 3 day mission trip to El Salvador. This trip was my second mission trip and it was nothing short of a miracle, heck try 5 miracles! Here we go:
Miracle #1 - Weather forecast warned a chance of 55% or more for rain showers for the 3 days, it didn't rain Thursday, it rained for a few minutes Friday am and dried up quick when the sun came out, it didn't rain Saturday all day, it only started pouring after all 3 houses were completed and after we had dinner Saturday evening.
Miracle #2 - Day 2 Saturday there was an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 that occurred at 8:11am. We had just left the hotel at 8am and on our way to the build site. Bus was bumpy we were all talking away. We didn't feel anything and nobody got hurt. We would not have known this if it wasn't for the mission director informing us that night. While led to miracle #3.
Miracle #3 - The director has announced because of the earthquake there were damages to the water/septic system that feeds the base camp and their feeding program for the children during the week. It would cost around $2000 for the repairs/replacement. By the grace of God by the time dinner ended we raised enough to have the system repaired.
Miracle #4 - Day 3 Sunday we did communion prior to checking out in the hotel courtyard. We got to witness Pastor Jake baptizing Bree in the hotel pool. Thank you Jesus!
Miracle #5 - Coming home there was a 30 min delay with United Air from El Salvador flying to Houston. We only had a layover about an hour which meant we had to run from one end of terminal to the other with security check point and all. United held the plan and waited 15 minutes for all of us to get on the plane before take off with Pastor Jake as the last person getting on. The funny part is that for every person that ran on the plane there was a cheer and by the time we all got on I heard the whole plane cheered!!
The family we built for and the base camp volunteers have not stopped texting me. And I continue to send them daily prayers and encouraging them. I thought I was going to just go build a house for a family in need, but I ended up gaining a new family thousands of miles away. As I said to the family during our key giving speech I told them I will always pray for them and I will come back to visit because our common denominator is a Heavenly Father who loves all of us so they are my family too.
Like I said this trip was nothing short of a miracle and my life has been changed forever for the better. I have been blessed beyond measure and never in my wildest imagination would I have thought I was the one that God blessed. This was one of the most rewarding life experiences I have ever had. I thank God for allowing me to be part of His master plans, to be His hands and feet, to work with His people for His people.
I think I finally found my calling. Thank you Jesus for loving me!!
